Please contact your insurance company to get a pre-authorisation code and to check the extent of your cover, including any reimbursement limits on consultation fees. The insurers normally require a referral from GP for a private consultation. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

The private consultation will normally include taking history, physical examination, ECG and formulation of treatment plan. There will be enough time to answer all your questions. If further tests are required, you will get the choice to undertake them privately or on NHS. Please bring a list of your medication. Should you need to cancel your appointment, please contact the booking office as soon as possible. No cancellation fee is payable but early notice will be greatly appreciated.

Following your consultation you may need certain tests (ECG monitor, echocardiogram, treadmill test etc) in order to diagnose your condition. You can choose to undergo these tests privately or on NHS. If the tests are done privately, the appropriate fees will be determined by the Alexandra Hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately. If you choose to have the tests on NHS, you will join a waiting list in exactly the same point as if you had the consultation on NHS.
